lot of trash sites who promise the world but don't deliver.
Today's article was written by my partner Stone Evans,
to help you avoid the pitfalls and stay focused on marketing strategies that actually work!

Did you realize there are only three types of online
promotion?... This statement may seem odd and even untrue in
your mind, but I am speaking in more general terms than you
might be thinking.

Let me explain.

The three types of promotion are Junk, Active and Passive
promotions.

JUNK PROMOTIONS ARE MONEY PITS

Junk promotions are those that seem to produce results, but by
their very nature are really only illusionary promotions.

For example, let me begin with FFA (Free For All) pages. You
might find yourself subscribing to a submission program that
tricks you into believing you are submitting your links to tens
of thousands search engines.

According to the Open Directory website, they have only approved
1705 search engines and directories for inclusion in their
database (http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/).

I like using the DMOZ directory as an example because submitted
links are tested by human beings with integrity, for the honesty
used in site description. Search Engine Watch and other search
watchers tend to show fewer than these 1705 engines, primarily
because a lot of the engines provide very little value.

Yes, you can submit your URL to a FFA page, but FFA's usually
only permit 100 or 1000 links on their page at any one time. So,
if ten thousand people are submitting a link to an FFA page on a
daily basis, then the average life of your link is between seven
minutes and 144 minutes. I suspect the actual number of
submitters is much higher and the results are much worse. Given
that few people surf FFA pages, the chances of your submission
being of any real value is practically nill!

Most of the people telling you that you can submit your site to
tens of thousands of search engines are truly only submitting
your site to FFA pages! Beware of the false promises.

Another junk promotion method is Safe Lists. A safe list is a
mailing group that is signed up to be received by people who
want to submit their own ads. Now, most safe lists have
thousands of subscribers who are able to submit their ads daily
or weekly. The person signed up to receive the list will receive
anywhere from twenty to 140+ messages a day from the list. These
messages will be received by people only interested in promoting
their own thing who do not have the right motivation to open,
let alone read Your Advertising. As a result, thousands of
messages go out daily or weekly that will never be seen by
anyone but the sender of the ad. Where is the value in that?
There is none.

ACTIVE PROMOTIONS

Active promotions are the type that require you to go out on a
daily basis or a weekly basis and put out your advertisements.
With active promotions, you will either place your advertising
or you will not sell your products or services. Your choice is
simple --- work or starve.

Examples of active promotions include Pay Per Click Search
Engines (PPCSE's), Direct Email, Ezine Advertising, Solo Ezine
Ads, Newsletter Publishing, Ezine Ad Swaps, Classified Ads,
Auctions, Site Sponsorship and Banner Ads.

Some people are able to utilize these methods very productively,
while others are destined to drop their money into the
bottomless pit of failed Internet promotions.

PASSIVE PROMOTIONS

Passive promotions are those promotions that can continue to
provide results for you long after you have invested the work to
make them available to the Internet community.

Examples of passive promotions include: Link Exchanges,
Articles, Ebooks, Content Exchanges and Writing Testimonials for
others.

Let's look at articles as a solid example of my point.

You are reading an article that I have written to promote my own
business. This article is timeless and therefore could have been
written five years ago and still have been as valuable as it is
today.

Due to the fact that the article is timeless, it can and will be
placed in newsletters/ezines and their accompanying online
archives, on websites and in ebooks for many more years to come.

As a result, this article will continue to serve me well beyond
the time in which I wrote it and submitted it to publishers and
webmasters for public consumption and publication.

This is the best example I can give you of an excellent passive
promotional method.

AVOID THE MONEY PITS

Many try and even fewer succeed to conquer the Internet and to
produce their dreams of online wealth.

My hope is that you will be one of the people who conquer the
challenges before you and to make a nice living while working
online. It will take drive, determination, study plus trial and
error, but you can make it work for you.

Please continue to educate yourself so that you can avoid the
money pits - instead, strive to find the money barrels. It can
be done. I am living proof.

No business can survive the long run without some form of
consistent advertising. As a result, most business owners will
eventually consider using advertising to promote their business.

The toughest part of the advertising equation is in determining
where and how to spend your advertising dollars. If you do it
wrong, you could plunk down your entire advertising budget and
receive absolutely no return on your investment. But, if you do
it right, your advertising could continue to bring a nice return
for years to come.

HOW DO I MAKE THE RIGHT ADVERTISING DECISIONS

In order to make good decisions concerning how to spend your
advertising budget, you must first have a good understanding of
the different types of advertising and promotion available and
what can be expected to be achieved by each.

· You must understand which markets the different media`s can
reach.
· You must understand the demographics of the media`s
consumers.
· You must understand the buying habits of the consumers
reached through the media.

WHAT OFFLINE ADVERTISING & PROMOTION MEDIA`S SHOULD BE CONSIDERED

The media`s that people think of most often are television,
radio, newspaper and magazine advertising. Of course, these are
the big boys that big businesses use regularly.

Other methods of promotion include trade shows, press releases,
direct sales, telemarketing, word of mouth, branding and
billboard advertising.

CONSIDERING THE BIG MEDIA OUTLETS

The big boys of advertising media`s generally cost big bucks.
Given certain circumstances, the big media`s can be bought for
very little money.

Take for example, television, radio and newspapers cost big
bucks during their prime times, but can be bought for pennies on
the dollar during non-primetime hours.

Television primetime is between 7pm and 10pm. Radio primetime is
between 7am and 6pm. With newspapers, the primetime is
Wednesdays and Sundays.

If you intend to hit a media during prime time, get ready to
drop some bucks. Primetime means that you will be able to hit
more consumers during these times. So, in most cases, a
primetime buy will enable you to reach more people with your
advertising.

Non-primetime hours can still deliver a lot of eyes and ears to
your message, and sometimes, these off-hours can be bought for a
bargain basement price.

GETTING MILEAGE FROM EVENTS

Trade shows and press releases are more event-driven. The trade
show is the event, while the press release generally exploits an
event.

Trade shows are an exceptional tool when you deal directly with
potential sellers of your products or services. Other shows are
directed at the consumer, and those can be very valuable avenues
for sales as well.

The press release is aimed towards gaining attention for a
business by distributing newsworthy information about the
business.

Sometimes the appearance of a business at a trade show or other
show can provide the necessary angle for a press release. But
most often, a successful press release will actually require
more noteworthy information than the appearance of a business at
a show.

Yet, even the most mundane of information could be spiced up to
give the real air of importance necessary to get your press
release read and printed.

The great thing about a press release is that might permit you
to get relatively inexpensive promotion on television, radio,
newspapers and magazines; for far less than what it would cost
you to buy advertising in those same outlets.

UTILIZING A SALES TEAM

Depending on what type of business you run and the consumers you
are trying to reach, you might find direct sales and
telemarketing to be very lucrative ways to drive sales to your
business.

Both are very similar in nature. Direct sales can be very
expensive, as it requires a great investment of time to
accomodate. Telemarketing seeks to minimize the time
expenditure, but it often leads to a smaller degree of respect
and attention.

Depending on your product or service --- and always depending
upon the people you employ to the task --- each method will be
more suited to each business on an individual basis.

BRANDING YOUR BUSINESS

I grouped branding and billboard advertising together in my
original list for a reason. I did this because billboard
advertising serves most businesses best by helping to support
the process of branding.

Branding is the process of establishing your business as the
supplier of a certain product or service, or in emphasizing a
certain USP (Unique Selling Proposition) as it pertains to your
business.

If branding and USP seems to be a confusing concept, think about
Wal-Mart and their tag line: "Always Low Prices, Always."

Think about Ford Motors, "Quality is Job One."

Think about the Visa Card, "It`s Everywhere You Want To Be."

You see, these top corporations have managed to make their USP
part of their branding.

Even if you are only competing in a local marketplace, your USP
can and should fit snugly into your branding strategy.

NO MATTER THE MEDIA OR METHOD

Whichever method or media you should choose to employ in your
advertising and promotion, you should become knowledgable about
your market, and the consumers reached by each media. It is
important to understand which consumers can be reached by a
certain media, and in what quantities.

However you choose to spend your advertising dollars, you should
always track the results of your promotional efforts. Failing to
track successes and failures will ultimately lead to the failure
of a business.

When you know whom you are trying to reach and how you think you
might be able to reach them, you will begin to learn how to use
advertising and promotion to make your business successful. That
is a good thing --- after all, that is why you got into the
business in the first place, isn`t it?

A Home Based Business is an excellent way to get you to living your Hundred-Fold-Life.

But, too many people want to work at home so bad they often ignore the opportunities that can offer them a legitimate chance of making money and end up in a business program that takes their money as well as their time with nothing to show for their investment. This is the first mistake most people make. Your enthusiasm and energy are at an all time high and rushing will lead to disaster. Before joining any home business opportunity, it pays to take your time and research many different programs to find the one that offers the best opportunity for success.

First, any business you plan to get into should be one in which you are interested in or have a background in, or else your interest in working with the program can quickly wane. Similar to advice you may have received when looking for a job, if it is not something you like and enjoy doing, you will not stay interested long enough to make it work. You should also have some knowledge about the product or service you will be offering to others to be able to offer intelligent information to others to make the sale or to recruit others into the business. You don't need to be an expert but, If you can add to your knowledge of the subject all the better.

Consider this about any business opportunity would you be comfortable offering the product, service or business opportunity to your mother? If not why would you offer it to another friend or relative let alone a stranger? While many of the opportunities online are for multilevel marketing programs, some may be so well hidden that they seem like a rare opportunity to get rich quick, remember no matter what they say you will not get rich quick. Some are legitimate businesses offering products for sale at a reasonable price and by selling them through a personalized website you can make a few bucks on every item that is sold.

With this arrangement however, you are not going to own the business or the website. You cannot make changes to the site or the products being sold. Your only interaction is to promote the website, attracting visitors who will hopefully start buying product from your site instead of someone else's site. This is where your knowledge of Internet marketing comes into play. Learning to be a good Internet marketer takes time to learn all of the "tricks".

The main company has probably recruited several hundred others, if not thousands, to promote their site. When your ad hits the Internet it is competing with everyone else attempting the same promotion. The odds of a visitor landing on your site depends on the number of others running the same type of promotion, many of them supplied for free by the main company. It will take a lot of advertising on your part to drive customers to your site.

A good home business opportunity will provide the chance to promote your own website and allow you to send visitors to the other site from there. One of my top earning web sites does just that. I am able to offer different programs, change the look and feel, and add a Blog and many other changes to have a unique site. This way I can give my visitors a choice in what products or services they buy or different programs in which they may have an interest.

A first-class program should also be clear about its compensation plan and how and when you can expect to be paid. If any part of the plan is not clear and understandable, contact the sponsor whose name is listed on your pages to better explain it. Have all of your questions answered before you invest in any offer or program.

The path to fully living your Hundred-Fold-Life will take time and research on your part. Don't rush in but do act. Getting started is the most important followed by evaluating each program properly.

Here are some easy to follow tips and advice for getting ahead in life a little bit faster.

Perseverance
Perhaps the biggest and best piece of advice for getting ahead in life is perseverance. While others around you may fail and quit and waste precious time wondering why, you can get a head start and shake off the disappointment and get right back on with life and persevere towards obtaining your goals or completing your task.

Planning
Planning what you want out of life is also an invaluable shortcut. While others are fooling around and debating what they want out of life, take action not words. Set yourself some obtainable life goals and develop strategies for reaching those goals within the specified amount of time.
Enjoy life
Smile and enjoy life, life is life, we all have to deal with whatever comes our way and by smiling instead of frowning you are going to make it more pleasant not only for yourself but for those around you. Having a positive outlook on life is much better than having a negative and gets you further quicker.

Listening
By listening to what is actually being said or taking notice of what is going on around you, you can get a head start. Concentration is the key word, focusing on the task at hand and not becoming distracted and wandering off course is the best choice of action. This can apply to studies if you are in college or school or you can apply it in your daily life, listening and understanding will show you the right way to go while others have to ask again and are left on the starting block.

Focus your energies

If you don’t need to take a break then continue working. While we all need breaks every now and again don’t take them unnecessarily. Some will use any excuse just to sit around and not do anything, but this is all they are doing, wasting time and not getting ahead. Only take a break from work or life when you really need it. Keep striving forward towards reaching what is you want or the until you have finished the task at hand then sit back and relax while you watch others around you struggle to catch up.
Don’t waste your precious time and energy by doing things the hard way, before you start a task think it out and plan which would be the easiest way to reach your target or goal in the shortest time possible and with the smallest amount of energy and time used to get there. Once you have figured this out then steam ahead and get the project finished while smiling at others who have not thought things through and are taking the long route.

Getting and keeping that Hundred-Fold-Life that you deserve revolves around simple and true principals. They just need to become a daily focus for you.

On our daily journey to fulfilling your Hundred-Fold-Life, procrastination is one sure way to bring it to a screeching halt.

If are you a victim of laziness, (the root cause of procrastination) then keep reading. If you often suffer because of what you initially considered as easy has turned difficult with the loss of time, and what appeared hard, due to further delay, has become impossible now. You may draw comfort from the fact that you are in the company of many that are affected by procrastination. But you must realize that you will experience true comfort, if you get rid of your laziness by shaking yourself up into action. Like many others, you can indeed stop procrastinating and start meeting deadlines, by following a few simple steps that teach you effective time management.

1. Plan your daily must-do activities. Draw up a to-do list; preferably, write it down on paper; or, use a computer if you prefer.

2. Prioritize the activities, the more important ones taking precedence over the less important. If there are urgent things to do, but not important enough to be worried about if not done, put them below the important ones. The idea is based on the established principle that 80% of rewards accrue from 20% of effort directed towards accomplishing important work.

3. Estimate the time required for each of the listed activities after analyzing their complexity. Avoid underestimation, as you may not have enough time to do well a particular of piece of work. Similarly, avoid overestimation, for that may leave some activities without enough time. A realistic budgeting of time is a must. Time allocation is a skill that is acquired with experience. So keep reviewing and revising your time schedule as you progress.

4. Organize your life. That will help you avoid wasting your precious time and leave more time for the actual work. Remember indiscipline causes confusion, even chaos, in life. It eats into your time. Avoid sloppiness. For instance, leave your personal belongings of daily use, like your glasses, your clothing, your computer etc., in the same place. If you do, you won't need to spend time looking for them all over the place. Apply the principle of doing work first and then taking time for pleasure and relaxation. Reverse the order only at the pain of falling prey to procrastination. You can get time for rest and relaxation if you are efficient in doing your assigned work.

5. Start working bit by bit. You may see a mountain at first, but mountains can be moved, especially if you begin by moving just a small stone from it. You know you cannot move the entire mountain all at once. Do not be overwhelmed by the immensity of the task before you. That will put you off. And you will put off the task for another day, which will never come. Just begin by taking one small step and you will invariably reach your destination.

6. Put first things first early in the day. Remember procrastination grows into a habit by the minute. Begin your day by launching yourself head first into the most important job waiting to be done.

7. Learn to cope with anxiety, depression, stress and other similar conditions of the mind related to your problems in life. Keep yourself fit, not just physically but mentally as well. Learn and practice suitable mental relaxation techniques such as meditation.

Your Hundred-Fold-Life is a daily pursuit that involves good habits, and a positive attitude.

If you are considering a home based business to achieve you Hundred-Fold-Life many aspects need to be looked at.

When you consider operating a home business, you will need to take into account the good, the bad and the downright ugly aspects of working at home. While the freedom of being your own boss can be an incredible incentive to operating you own business out of your home it can also be an incredible burden.

Your free time will suddenly be at a premium, especially if you have a family with which you like to spend time. A home business requires a lot of time and effort and there will be days when you may not have much left over for your own interests. Because the reward of operating your own home business is a direct result of the amount of effort you put into it, you will end up working far more hours than you did when working for someone else.

While many home business opportunities pretend that the owners will have all the free time they might ever want, the reality is you will work whenever it is necessary. The difference is you can adjust your hours to make them convenient for your family's schedule. Do not believe for a minute that a home business is going to allow you to sleep all day and party all night. That is a recipe for failure.

As the owner of a viable business owner working from home, there are certain tax advantages to working out of your home. A portion of your rent or mortgage along with utilities and other expenses may be eligible for deduction for the business use of your home, but certain specific criteria must be met for them to be taken. However, once met it can provide a significant savings on the tax bill.

Working independently as a home-based business owner can in many ways be its own rewards, providing a feel of satisfaction when everything is going according to plan, there will be no one to turn to if a major problem develops. You will be on your own in any decisions that affect the business, as well as your family's future. You will need to understand that every decision you make will affect every person in the family in some way.

Before beginning a business venture at home you may want to create a list of the pros and cons to determine how they affect you and your family. Only by taking an objective look at what you can look forward to and possibly guard against, will you be in a position to make an informed decision about whether a home business is the right move for you.

Having the courage and discipline to secede in a home-based business is essential. When you start to see your Hundred-Fold-Life unfolding before your eyes it is one of the greatest feelings in the world, and to know freedom is at hand.

Your Hundred-Fold-Life may begin with a simple clean idea, now it needs a plan to see that idea come to life.

Every new online business starts with a plan. This includes an overall objective, secondary objectives, a Mission Statement, a Strategy, an Identity, a Procedural Policy and an inventory of merchandise and/or services rendered. An online business is no different. As a matter of fact, the site itself is actually the last stage of establishing an online business. The main conception of said business always comes first.

As said, any and every business venture begins with a single idea, whether simple or complex, although the best ideas are the simple ones. Regardless of the type of business, this idea must be cogent, intelligent, realistic and comprehensible. Take for example an online business dealing with automotive parts. If you plan to work eight hours a day, it may not matter which eight hours, but you will have to work.

Many people who have a home business will work a schedule similar to others within the home so that their time off can match others. For their own productivity, it is important for them to get up in the morning, get ready for work and then put in their own scheduled hours. In the evening, they can devote time to family and friends and by treating their online occupation just as they would a real-world job, others may be more inclined to understand their home business schedule and offer far fewer interruptions and distractions.

When working from home, the schedule should include time for breaks as well as lunch breaks and these should be adhered to as stringently as the working schedule. It is best to understand that working from home means more than being at home. Whatever you are doing has become your chosen occupation and you are now in charge of your future. You will want to be a better boss than the last one you worked for and when you find yourself not following your schedule, consider asking yourself for a raise.
